Heart depths

Anita Casteel

There are over 20 verses in Exodus about Pharaoh's hardheart. Since we covered that last week, the next "heart" we see is:"And with the blast of Your nostrils The waters were gathered together; The floods stood upright like a heap; The depths congealed in the heart of the sea."Exodus 15:8

The heart of the sea. The heart of the matter. Hearts on Valentine's Day (how deep we love on this day).

The heart in this passage is the center. The middle. The depths.

The Israelites were enslaved for years by the Egyptians. God came to set them free. Moses went through 10 plagues to help share God's power and truth to the captors.

By God's might. God's power. God's majesty, the slaves were set free So much so that, they walk across the Jordan, on dry land.

What happened to the Egyptians? Once again God defeated the enemy. God held up the walls of the sea, then, let them down,  at the appointed time. Killing all the Egyptians. They died, in the heart of the waters.

Just like us, we are lost, captive, enslaved to the world. God came down in the form of Jesus and showed us how we were drowning in sin.

He parted the heavens so we could see His truth. His will. His power. His majesty. His strength. He will free your heart. Invite Him in. Father, my sin consumed me. You saved me from my sins,  to my very heart.

I am often embarrassed by the depths of my sin. My selfishness. At 23 years of age, I cried out to God to forgive my sins, come in and become Lord of my life. He wiped away my ugly sins and gave me a new heart, His heart. But honestly, the road to sanctification is long. I am still a sinner, saved by grace.

But, I have to ask God daily, to take my sin and remove it from the depths of my heart, to wipe it away, daily, and thank God, He does!!!

Thank you for your victory over death, hell, and the grave. Thank you, Jesus for showing us your heart to love us...to our very depths. We love you, Lord.
